THEATRE - Voice Alarm Evacuation System
Everyman Liverpool

The new £28m Everyman Theatre and bistro opened their doors in late 2013.

The building houses a 400-seater theatre, an expanded backstage, rehearsal space, a dedicated space for the Everyman Youth Theatre and community groups, production workshops, and front-of-house, catering and bar facilities including a recreation of the Bistro and a pavement cafe.

Renowned as a source of great talent including Julie Walters, Bernard Hill, Jonathan Pryce, Pete Postlethwaite, Bill Nighy, Barbara Dickson, Matthew Kelly and playwrights Willy Russell and Alan Bleasdale, the theatre has played a significant part in British theatre and film.

PAS were engaged by the fire and security contractors on the project to deliver a fully installed and commissioned voice alarm system throughout the entire building. With many levels and areas to cover the VA system has been developed to meet the special requirements of theatre whilst maintaining compliance with current British standards.

The system operates automatically from the fire alarm system during non performance times, with special manual intervention during shows to avoid false evacuation. Emergency microphones at key locations provide further communication when required.
